Overhead
Hoist
Overhead style hoists are available
in load capacities up to 10,000 pounds. Hoist lift and
body assemblies are
available in heavy gauge stainless steel for maximum
corrosion resistance, or in powder coated steel. Hoists
are fully automatic, controlled by a PC with PSI’s
proprietary Automotion 8000NT program. This program was
specifically developed to harness the full power of Microsoft
Windows 95/98/NT. PLC controls with graphical interface
packages (Interact, Wonderware) are also available.
Lifting
of loads is accomplished through two motor-driven stainless
steel take-up wheel assemblies, each equipped with
a heavy-duty lift strap or chain lift, depending on the load
weight. Lift straps are chemically resistant and inherently
safe, as they prevent powered lowering (forcing) of a load
into a tank. Hoist positioning is accomplished through an
optical encoder system, with repeatability of + 0.50".

Overhead
hoists ride on a rail system located above the process
tanks. Guide rails are located outside of the tanks’ work
envelope, reducing the possibility of particulate contamination
in the tanks. Overhead hoists require a superstructure
assembly (available in stainless steel or epoxy-coated
steel) on both the
front
and rear of the tank system, extending
above the tanks.
